I believe they do a lot of undercover work, not positive though since I don't know anyone that's a cop in JC. If you read the police blotters a lot of time they will have large drug busts where they mention the bust made by under cover cops so I assume they are out there on foot. Matter of fact there was a huge drug bust recently on JKF and Montgomery. There's a guy that posts on here named "Jerseyman" I'm pretty sure he said he is/was a cop in JC, he knows the score unlike many others that post here about JC.
What kinda shifts they usually work? Do they ever patrol on foot or only car?
yes there are foot patrols, scooters, plainclothes, narco, gang and several other units. patrols have a minumum amounts of officers required on all shifts. shifts overlap sp there are always patrol cars on the road. i don't want to go in to to many details as this is not a secure sight. it's a great career but it could and is dangerous. a colleague was shot in the face and killed several years ago making a tactical entry on Reed Street. jcpd has not hired in over a year due to budget cuts that have taken hold thruout the state and municipalities. employee numbers peaked in the 70's to over 1,000, now there is less than 800. good job and career if u can handle it, not for someone that isn't used to city life or an urban atmosphere.
