paint pealing on the house next door. Junk in the backyard which is impossible not to view. But I have been looking for a long time in the town I am looking and it is hard to find new construction within walking distance to school. Yet, the house next door has a tire just sittting in the front, paint pealing, junk in backyard. any opinions. would you overlook next door or would it bother you.

Overlook it. It would kind of help if you described the area.

I'd overlook it.

Plant tall shrubs along you property line and just remove that tire from the neighbors yard when they're not around

what kind of description do you suggest.
it is a residential area. all houses and new house is next to a house that is not well kept. Some privacy bushes are already up but when looking out window one can still see garbage in backyard that looks like it has been there a while.

But the house is great otherwise.

it is a residential area. all houses and new house is next to a house that is not as well kept.
So the house next door is the only house in the area that is not well kept? Then yes, overlook it. I could see if there were a bunch of unkept houses like that on the same block then OK, but if it is just one house I would not worry about it.

I'd want to get a look at the neighbor before deciding. It may be an elderly guy....and you could possibly help them clean-up. If it is a group of thug looking types, I might be wary.

Go watch an episode of "Infested". It's usually the unkept home next door that makes the situation unbearable. Unless it's such an unreal deal that you can likely flip it anyway and make some handsome profit, I would ask Why? Quality of life issues are so important. I made the mistake to live around a similar situation. After a long day from work, last thing you want to deal with is some foul odor coming from next door that no fancy fence can stop.
