The last 3 presidents have all smoked weed. Probably 2/3 of people under 40 have at some point. Does it really matter or effect anything? I dont think so, so what is the point of threatening to put people in jail for smoking it?
This proposal seems like a lot more feasible and logical plan of action
its infuriating that he and those like him feel its their right to control so many aspects of other people's lives. the concept of putting someone in prison for using drugs is infuriating to me. who does he think he is to oppose the will of the people here? why does he feel righteous in taking away people's freedoms?

Seriously?
CC is contolling your life?
Did you miss the multi thousands of federal regulations passed in the last few years? and CC is taking away your feedom????? CO2 is a pollutant and the feds own evry drop of water on your property? Building restrictions aplenty if you have damp soil or soil that used to be damp?
The feds are trying to save you from sugar, fat in foods because you are too irresponsible or uninformed to keep yourself safe and now let's just encourage a substance that works through your CNS and muddles your consciousness? Great!
Didn't the courts overturn the 'will of the people' in CA?
The will of the people is often trumped by a small vocal minority, so that carries no water.
Legislation that imposes restrictions on where you can smoke doesn't bother you?
How about all that money spent on anti-smoking Edu and now it is encouraged. Wonder where you would be able to legally smoke pot?
Decriminalize small amounts but better make sure any DUI, work injuries or other CNS compromised crimes that cause injury or harm are punished with a vengence.
Lawyers wringing their hands in anticipation of another legal specialty about to bloom. Alcohol lawsuits charge everyone for a person's irresponsible actions just wait till the pot suits start flying.
The assumption is that everyone who smokes pot will be responsible. When the feds and your esteemed state legislators think you can't make a responsible decision with regard to something as basic as food choices, encouraging muddled consciousness flies in the face of laws you accept without a whimper....for your own safety.
I find it hilarious that Christie has criticized the federal government for not stopping legalization in Colorado and Washington, saying federal law trumps states rights.
At the same time, he is fighting the federal government to allow sports betting in NJ, saying states rights should trump federal law.

im not gonna read any further. I see that when someone attacks Christie, some republicans feel the need to point out the democrats are just as guilty. I don't disagree with that but that doesn't mean that I cant criticize Christie. I am happy to criticize both sides. there was no need for you to bring up the regulations.
also, I never said he is taking away my freedom. im saying that he is in favor of taking away people's freedoms for totally unacceptable reasons. that's offensive to me. are you suggesting that as long as I don't go to prison for drug possession that I shouldn't care that other people do? it bothers me that people go to prison for drug possession/sales. the way Christie yells out of his big obnoxious mouth that it will never be legalized while he is governor is offensive.
I support legalization, but I fear decriminalization is the worst of both worlds.
If it's fully legalized, the sale and distribution is moved from the sometimes-violent underground black market to reputable, tax-paying businesses working with the police rather than against them.
If it's decriminalized but still illegal, demand for illegal drugs will increase, but it will all still be supplied by the sometimes-violent criminal black market, which now has an increased cashflow.
It's hard for a traditional-type state like NJ to come around to legalizing pot. CA can't even get there yet. Heck, if NJ does where are all those NJ cops gonna get their extra pension money from when they have to stop giving out summons for weed?

surely you can thinking of better reasons to oppose legalization that this.
