I'm from/living in Cranford and I did not see this one coming! Not that I disagree, it's just something I never would have guessed Cranford would have been selected for. Maybe this is because I know it as such a family oriented town, rather than a haven for singles, but on the other hand all you have to do is drive through the riverfront Victorian mansion laden neighborhoods to see the wealth.

Haddonfield is only good for rich families and rich old people.. Its a dry town. I dont get how it could be good for singles. reporting sounds suspicious.

Ridiculous list. Why live so far from NYC/Philly and pay taxes on those schools. If you have a family, they're great.

The real best "rich singles" list looks like 1. Hoboken 2. Jersey City 3. Morristown; 4 and 5 candidates would be New Brunswick, Red Bank, Long Branch, Asbury, and Princeton.

1 and 2 I would say are national and Hoboken is ranked as such repeatedly. And it's wealthy. Yes the schools are not as good as a Cranford but unless you're a single mom you're more concerned with bars and access to NYC.

No one said "young" single and rich people. It could have lots of old single people who are very rich!

Cranford is on the list because there are a bunch of single parents there in the cheap parts of town, and bunch of married people making a lot Then there are a bunch of rich people that bump the average salary. They make it sound like the singles are making $132K

A lot of that isn't true but you can think what you want.

I know. Money magazine is terrible. They use some superficially and arbitrary census info. Then spit out a list and try to justify every town on that list. They dont get nuance a local would have. For example the best places to live are all under 25k in population. It screws to suburbs of wealthy cities that dont allow any poor people by zoning for large lot housing only. Moorestown NJ was rated #1 in 2005 and its definitely not the best place to live in South Jersey let alone the country. BTW next year none of the top 25 places will be on the list. Weird that a best place one year wont even be on the list the next.

These national surveys are so stupid. Recently they had USR with a higher median income than SR and Alpine. Just no way in hell.

And I laugh when they say Franklin Twp (Somerset Cty) is one of the safest places in the country. Most if it's alright but it fails to mention the gang presence and regular shootings in the section that borders New Brunswick.
