You didn't mention what type of jobs you are looking for and what are your skill sets. The job market is still pretty bad especially for unskilled labor.
You can look for headhunters and temp agencies that specialize in your field. Job sites like Monster and careerbuilder are good sites. None of these can guarantee you a job. It is true that it is who you know and not what you know.
I could use a job too, I have a CDL Class B with air brakes, and a Passenger endosement but no one is looking to hire someone that has 0 experience with driving a Roll off truck or anything like that. I would like to get a job like that since it pays well, or so I think, well it pays thats the main thing. I was working for First Transit at Rutgers but I wanted to tranfer to their NJTransit contract (Accesslink)... that was a mistake.
Thats how Craigslist is for ANYTHING! lol selling something buying something looking for a job! I hate CL but I have looked there for a job just for the hell of it. I might find something but I'm not holding my breath on that one. lol
You can't just look for jobs without narrowing it down. Look at your skill sets and match that up with employers who would pay for your skills.
If you don't have any marketable skill sets, then I suggest you enroll in some sort of school/program and acquire them. It is a tough market out there and NJ has a very high unemployment rate, so there are plenty of people looking for jobs and you will have a lot of competition.
Also try indeed.com -it's also a good site for searching jobs.
