what is it that people dislike? i am not exactly moved by him, but i don't know a great deal that offends me either. is it political stances/views, or something else?
Like I said above, read about all of his political shenanigans starting back when he 19 and the Musto caper.
i don't see a lot of details on it. just some general bio stuff. overall, what he's done as u.s. rep and now senator, i don't see any big issues. i don't like everything he has done - but that's different than despising the guy.

Well, I've met him in person a few times over the years when he was doing his election day handshaking thing in Hoboken Terminal and there's just something about him that skeeves me.
But for an actual reason with substance, a few years ago when a Dubai company bought out a Brit firm that was providing O&M services in the Jersey ports, Menendez was spewing all this moronic crap about how Bush was selling our port facilities to the Middle East; i.e., terrorists. He wasn't the only one twisting the story that way, but he was the only one who was my senator, and it just disgusted me. My annoyance had nothing to do with Bush one way or the other, but rather with someone who is supposed to be representing me taking the simple innocuous facts of a business transaction and trying to make it into something ridiculous for the sole reason to take a slap at a politician of the other party in the hopes that people were stupid enough to believe what he was saying. You know, stuff politicians do all the time.
Well his name ends in "ez" so he got most of the hispanic vote and lord knows there are lots of hispanics in NJ (nothing wrong with that, my wife is hispanic) and secondly, people voted for him because he is a democrat and we all know how great democrats are.
Agree, then he can practice his thievery on a national level.
