I am close to re-locating to a house where I would be commuting from this train line to NYC. I have heard that its hard to get into the parking lot, find parking and that the trains are mostly standing room only. Is this all true?

I know its a popular stop but I am just hoping its not a daily nightmare! If anyone has any information or first-hand experience, it would be much appreciated.

Thank you very much!

Default Yep..

..it's crazy... Sometimes I commute from New Brunswick and when the train stops at Metro Park - The watergates open up and the people pore in. To be honest, all 3 stops ahead of Metro Park are crowded. I get on at the first stop, New Brunswick, so I find a seat. Edison and Metuchen are just as crazy so the seats fill up quick. Usually when the train stops at Newark people jump out and run to the PATH. So you'll find a seat then. So standing 20 minutes isn't soo bad.

Brunswick - Better
Edison - Ok
Metuchen - Bad
Metropark - Worse

Personally, I was traveling to NYC from Metropark around once a week and never had a problem finding a parking space. On a few days that it was snowing or there was a lot of rain forecast, I ended up in the surface lot (which is normally always empty), but I was never unable to park.

Whether or not you get a seat depends on what time you go to work, I guess. Some of the trains around 7:30-8:00 are pretty crowded, but the crowd thins out at Newark, so worse case you're standing for around 20 minutes.

Bob, parking is never a problem in metropark. Always you will get a spot. Its the train thats the issue. May be its me.. but as someone said... when train stops at metropark its like a flood gate opened.. they dont care whether they pushing an elderly or a pregnant lady nothing.. they just storm inside. I usually take the 7-8 since I plan to be at office atleast by 9-9.30 and that was horrible..

My wife and I are about to move to Edison and would be taking the Metropark station. I have heard that the crowd thins out around 8am (both traffic to the station and amount of people on the platform). Is this true? Or is it in fact still very crowded at 8am?

Thanks

It does thin out, but there's still alot of people there. To get to a really light load, you've got to take an 8:30 or 9:00 train.
