Just looking for opinions on each town. We are looking to move from Toms River to take advantage of the special mortgage loan programs offered in these area. We are a family with teenaged kids and a preschooler. We are looking for a nice safe family-oriented neighborhood. We dont like beachy areas. We have driven through Barnegat and Manahawkin and like both. We do like Manahawkin better though. Love Ocean Acres. its a lot like areas in Toms River so it feels homey to us.

We are going to take a drive through Forked River soon, meaning more in dpeth than just your usual passing through on Route 9. I am under the impression that Forked River is just Route 9 or the parkway to go somewhere else. lol. ARe there actual stores there, etc.? are there neighborhoods west of Route 9 that are not near water, etc.?

any info anyone can share would be greatly appreciated.

There are no (FR) neighborhoods west of Rt. 9 - 99% of Forked River lies east of Rt. 9.

They're in Lacey Township but not Forked River proper.
