Isn't "extreme" a bit subjective?

Yea! Our own weather thread! I have been leeching off the Connecticut weather thread for over a year. Very interesting stuff. I am waiting to see what tomorrow night brings. I'm seeing 4-8 inches from Accuweather.

Happy New Year everyone.

Personally, I think on January 2nd we should just go right into spring!

I admit it, I HATE excessively cold weather, and the winters seem so long!

No. Extreme in northern NJ would be -5F to -20F. That happens very infrequently and would represent an extreme. Temperatures around zero once or twice a year are normal for this area.

By the way, I love the irony of envirofascists studying global warming getting stuck in 10-20 feet of sea ice and having to be flown off in fossil-fuel burning helicopters. Extremely funny.

How do I protect the pipes from icing up. This happened the last time lows dipped below 0F. I put extra insulation, but don't know how effectively it will work.

This is an interesting nj topic, the weather diversity in our state. Sussex county is in a different climate zone. Just a few weeks ago, Sussex county airport was 25* colder than NYC.
There also is a Snow belt here. I've seen snow amounts vary greatly from Branchville, to 4 miles north up to the mountain. We can get dumped on and counties closer to the coast get a snow/rain mix.

Usually, auasex county averages a high of 29 F in winter while Atlantic city averages 42 F. Sussex county also sees lots of snow while in AC its usually cold rain (which admittedly sucks more than snow ).
