I am considering a move to Jackson or Howell and like both areas...I work in Manhattan and have felxible hours and know its a long commute but am willing to do it based on what I get in return as it pertains to house protperty safety etc. I currently live in Brooklyn and am ready to move out of the old neighborhood. Can anyone offer any insight on the commute to NYC...keep in mind i can leave anytime from 6am to 9am for work...Can anymore who is currently doing this commute advise if its worth it based on the reutrn and if they would still move there in hindsight
Why all the way down there unless you're gonna work in central NJ. It's a crazy commute during the winter and expensive one. You better off going to central NJ.
i have a company car and again, flex hours so the cost of the commute doesnt factor in, only the length of time..i am currently doing an hour consistantly so was wondering if it would be only an extra half hour and if that was a fair guess...WHy jackson/howell...because u obviously get more house for the money, i have researched the developing plans and it is rowing which is good and bad but from an appreciation point of view, the way houses are priced it is a good investment...not to mention comin from Queens, its very country which is what we are looking for....we prefer the location down there as opposed to northern monmouth county which is closer to NYC but it is like the 6th borough (little Staten Island)..lol
With close to a 2-hour commute in each direction, you will be so drained from commuting that you won't have any time to enjoy whatever house you buy. Believe me, I know people that do it. By the time you get home it's time to go to bed and start the cycle all over again. I don't have any comments specific to either town, but Central NJ is all kind of the same suburban sprawl.
ugh tough decisions....i appreciate the insight..let me ask u guys this...i may have the option to work in philadelphia in a year or two..(inter company transfer)..is it the same commute to philly or is it closer/easier....thanks guys for the advice!
Slightly worse getting to PHI from either of those two towns.
