They're probably an important part of tbe food chain.
And pit bulls kill more people each year than bears do. But all kinds of idiots have them sitting around their living rooms.
the whole concept that "if something from the food chain dies off the world will end" is a bunch of crap. any animal can become extinct and everything else will adjust.
anyway, im not suggesting killing all black bears. but if there was one running through my backyard and i have young children, i may kill it.
I'm still not convinced he killed the hiker, the article I read said he had bite marks and claw marks, could the hiker while running fell and hit his head and the bear went over to him and started clawing and biting after? Have they come out with an actual cause of death yet?
I remember a few years back camping in stokes forest park and they enforce that your not allowed to leave any food out at any time, went for a walk came back and there was a black bear roaming around our campsite, he walked onto the next site where they had a baby in the tent and left its dirty diaper right by the tent entrance, the bear took it and left.. I don't think the people in the tent had any idea he was there either.
