Does Newark or Jersey City need a Symbolic Supertall Skyscraper to rival NYC?

Hmm I would have to say no.....A supertall building wouldn't look right in Newark or Jersey City. Especially Newark, since they dont even have a building over 500ft.
That's a new take on urban development, going as high as you can to physically escape the squalor and crime below. They've tried everything else without success.
The unions would love the work and guarantee votes for the Dems.
In case you missed it, tall buildings are the aftermath of business success not gold accessories to enhance an unattractive face.
You've been on Skyscrapercity again, haven't you, Nex?
I've seen you there, hehehe.
Thats my Home base , been a member since i was 14 - Aug 2005 (Original account) and 16 - Aug 2007 (Current account). So I use that site for mainly posting pictures ,and discussing things. I look around the world from that site into other countries from the safety of my laptop. I also belong to Skyscraperpage which is the older sister of SSC , i joined there in 2009. SSP is more detailed disccusion , they also sell things through various stories...
I joined WiredNY back in 2009 , WNY is a regional SSC/SSP....
I remember Mr. Grant's proposal in the early to mid 1980's written up in our local paper -the NJ Herald. It was pretty exciting - if only for bragging rights! But when you look at the scale of Newark, the Grant USA tower would be ridiculously out of scale with the rest of downtown. Jersey City would do itself a favor by carefully planning its future providing human scale housing and architectually enriching urban environment for its citizens and visitors.

More like bling to show how successful you are. Supertalls don't make any economic sense, they're about prestige.
