folks we are going to be paying and paying for years to come. N.J. had nation's highest debt burden in '14, group says | NJ.com

Forget that there will be no social security for 40 year olds and younger, your taxes will easily double in the next ten years as there is no plan or fix. Which then, how is anyone ever going to retire?

Stay in nj and you will be working and in debt till you drop dead, while free loaders get welfare and taken care of, poor performing schools demand more money and use kids to protest and cause disturbances in the street if they dont get their way, state employees have underfunded pensions that will take 30 years to clear out(recipients to die), illegals have kids and pay no taxes but their kids are taken care of still, companies continue to offshore and move out jobs to other states or countries ( mecedes benz and adp's IT went to atlanta and metlife went to NC)

This is why NJ sucks, its good ol days are long gone unless someone magically bails us out and resets everything , but my gut tells me we would end up in the same situation again.

Do you want to attack kids from Newark because they protested? Do you even have any clue what is going on?

Kids from the Ironbound whose families pay the most taxes in the city are being told they have to go to other schools in the city. Many times in the South or West wards. Parents purchased homes in better neighborhoods in the city in order for their kids to go to Ann Street, Wilson Avenue schools and are told NO. How is that fair? Many literally live across the street from their neighborhood school. Kids are being given NJ Transit bus passes and are told to get on a city bus to get to school miles away.

Maybe you should see where your money as a taxpayer is truly going to. I can tell you more of your $$$ is going to fund charter schools than public schools. It's a game that is blinding the public.

The Ironbound has schools that are 150 years old and crumbling, yet there are brand new charters popping up.

Malcom x high school is in iron bound????Thousands of Newark students leave school in protest, block major intersection | NJ.com

Anyway listen all you newarker numbskulls, pay for your own dam schools and quit asking the state for aid and still have below poor performance and graduation rates. That aid comes from tax payers who are fed up with you bleeding us dry.

Bigger joke is these numbskulls kids rushed into rite aid and looted the store while protesting. Gimme gimme gimme !

East Side High School was mentioned in the article. All high schools met at city hall.

Do you realize that there are state laws that require Newark to pay for all of their special needs and bi-lingual kids? Newark has the highest number of special needs and bi-lingual students in the state. Your state mandates that they pay for these kids and give them proper care.

Don't forget your charter schools that bring in all the students they can in September to later kick them out in October-November. Yet, the state will still provide $$$ to the school for that student they no longer have. That student gets dumped in the public school.

Obviously Newark has issues. Go after your politicians to think they can make every kid go to college. How about teaching these high schoolers to be an electrician, mechanic or plumber.

These kids live in **** poor conditions, it's not a reflection of the teachers.

Can we have the $288m back from Occidental Petroleum that was suppose to clean up our Passaic river but instead went to balance the state budget?

Can we send Millburn, West Orange and Verona all of the housing projects that the county dumped in Newark? You pay to keep the crap out of your towns.

Newark's river is a huge asset to the city. They get the $$$ to clean it up and make that apart of it's core. Yet the state keeps the money.

Christie vetoes bill that would have returned money to Passaic River cleanup - News - NorthJersey.com

What ever happened to the gas tax increase discussion? NJ is the second lowest in the nation and there were talks and even public support for a gas tax increase to help pay from NJ infrastructure projects. I can't find anything on Google since July 2015.

nj has the highest overall taxes in the nation. the fact that the gas tax is lower means nothing. its the overall tax burden that matters. government money is all fungible.
