Hi All, first time home owner in Essex county. Our house has an in-ground pool and I used the pool company recommended by the previous owner to only open and close the pool and they send me a bill of $1200, ouch!.

So, for next year I need to find a new company or preferably some independent pool tech who I can work with hourly to open and close the pool myself. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or any independent pool tech you know if in the area.

thanks in advance!

SL

That is pricey! Unless you have a really complicated pool(spa, water fall, etc) try Blu Sol Pools | Award Winning New Jersey Swimming Pool Company, Custom Pool Builder, Inground Pool Design, Swimming Pool Service and Inground Swimming Pool Renovation not sure how far into Essex they go but they are a rock solid company and they charge about $350 for opening.

My sister and brother in law have a big pool and they always did that stuff themselves. Never even thought about having an outside company do it.

thanks tdstyles , I will check out Blu Sol....

captne76, I am also thinking about doing it myself next year. I am worried that if I do not blow the lines properly at closing I will end up cracking an underground pipe or so... but I am definitely leaning towards doing it myself next year!

I used Pugliese Pools to do an acid wash on a family members pool. Definitely recommend them.

WRT doing it yourself: reputable pool company will give you a warranty if they open & close the pool and a pipe breaks due to their work.

If you do close the pool (opening is much easier, in general), make sure you blow out the lines with a strong blower (shop vac wont do it)
