I am a first time home buyer in Essex county and planning to buy a 2 family home
I've been searching trying to find a good mortgage broker or lender in North NJ area.
Was thinking of going to a big bank like chase but read some horror stories of dealing with big banks and the delays
Can anyone recommend someone in nj? Or a credit union ?
Has anyone heard of Brightwire Loans in Lyndhurst or used them?
I was considering using them and they have excellent reviews online but I'm not sure if I can trust the online reviews, it looks like a fairly new small company

Camaro69,
What does DM stand for? I am in need of a mortgage and Quicken Loans just turned me AND my parents down for a mortgage. And for the record, my parents def should NOT have been turned down! Their home is paid off and they collect pensions and social security. They have never had a problem like this before?? They are trying to help me buy a home.
Direct Message, you should see a notice in the upper right corner where it says "welcome" But, they didn't send you one, so it's not important right now.
You should know that no matter who your mortgage starts with it basically is going to end up in the hands of one of the big banks. Mine was sold about ten minutes after I signed and it's been sold once again since that. Or they consolidated. I'm unclear. But, it's kind of irrelevant is my point.
Has your realtor been of any assistance in the matter? They've got a vested interest in seeing this go through and we ended up with a better deal through them than anyone else.
If your parents are helping you out you must keep track of every dollar they have given you yet and make sure that anything they give you is accompanied by a note indicating that it is a GIFT. If they haven't given you anything yet, please talk to the mortgage companies before cashing any checks. Large deposits from out of nowhere typically send up a lot of red flags unless you've had a chat about them.

If you want, DM me your number and name and I'll have my mortgage rep call you.
Where are you buying? If its a competitive market you may want try and get fully underwritten before going house hunting. Definitely ask your realtor though. They will give you someone local and sometimes, having a local lender can make things go much smoother.
