My GPS keeps telling me it's construction, but I don't see any construction going on.
Last night was good. We had the office holiday party, which ended at 8 p.m. I sailed home in one hour, 11 minutes.
i actually was stuck last night until about 7:45 and drive time was 57 minutes. whenever you have one of those trips you think how much better the commute would be if it were like that every day.
All NY towns close to NYC have really bad traffic. They also cause traffic jams in NJ going into NY. I think all areas are pretty close in terms of taxes and cost. If you live in SI, NYC resident tax + property tax and higher cost of living in NYC make living in SI not exactly cheap option.
In NJ, one can choose to live in cheaper tax counties and be within an hour of NYC. I've seen people live near the train station in NJ and a condo costs about ~$315k for a 2-3 bedroom and taxes about $6k that's pretty decent along the NJ transit line.

Yes. I only go in two days most weeks unless I am under a deadline, though, and work two days at home, so I can deal. But in summer, it was around 1:05 from home to where I park.

It's been 1:05 all week this week! No wait at the VNB.
There was an accident on 278 on the way home. GPS took me on Little Clove Road to get around some of it and supposedly saved me five minutes.
there was a time when i would get off of the SIE every single time i got off the VZB. i dont bother anymore. it doesnt seem like its worth the extra hassle. i generally like to just sit in the left lane and stay as long as i can. i dont like constantly changing lanes and trying to change routes for just 3 minutes or less.

I know what you mean, and the supposed time saved doesn't always work out that way.

Am here to tell you plenty of locals aren't thrilled with the extra traffic via GPS "detours". *LOL*
Todt Hill Road and Ocean Terrance residents are especially fed up not only with the increased traffic but because not everyone's GPS is accurate. Ocean Terrance is a winding and twisting road, you have no idea how many trucks and other vehicles end up in people's front yards or smashing into homes because they either followed wrong GPS directions, and or just cannot handle driving up there.
There are days when the traffic along service roads and or the side streets in area of SIE are just as bad as the expressway.
