Anyone have a recommendation for an electronics parts store in NJ? We live in southwestern NJ, but come from Bergen County originally, and we're willing to go anywhere in the state. My husband has been looking for a parts store where he can peruse... uh, parts. (I don't know diddly about electronics.) Do they even exist any more? My husband likes to fiddle around with his Raspberry Pi, and also enjoys building circuits that do what he considers "fun". Lots of blinking and counting going on; I try not to ask too many questions. Many years ago, he was a bench tech and he has never lost the love of making things work again. He's the kind of guy who takes apart blown CFL bulbs and carefully removes the usable parts and then gets inspiration from YouTubers who do the same thing and build circuits that do other tasks.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Brick & Mortar (physical) electronics parts stores are becoming very rare. Most of these retailers are now online only stores.

Your best bet would be a Micro Center. They have stores in Paterson (which may be quite a ride for you, but it's in NJ), and Philly.

Ive been in that biz many years, using electronic parts,,,off the top,, memory,,

Used to be a really cool one well stocked on the NJ side of Cherry Hill,,, only been there once or twice when I was fixing a TV station...

MicroCenter Paterson and one somewhere out around Philly,,,

Lashen Electronics in Denville, NJ

IEI Electronics around Hazlet near where NJ35.NJ36 and the GSP intersect.

One on Rt 22 GreenBrook Electronics. Rt 22 had a few more years ago,,,

Used to and might still be one in Bloomfield about a block off Bloomfield Ave, big warehouse type with surplus and other deals.

Also used to be some similar place in Paterson don't remember name this minute.

Check maker spaces, they'll be the ones to know. I can think of a few places in New York, mostly Brooklyn, but not NJ.

If you're ever outside Boston on I-95 you have to go here: Electronics | Makes me weak at the knees just thinking about it.

The Microcenter in Paterson is part of the UEZ zone so 3.5% sales tax applies.

Thank you so much to everyone who replied! What a bunch of great suggestions. And I didn't even know there was a Micro Center in Philly. I will check out these places further and discuss with my husband which candy store he would like to visit first.
