Hi, so my husband and I have been considering a move to Cape May for a while.. I would love to hear from people who are actually FROM there to see their thoughts on schools. I've read mixed reviews, but definitely seems like they aren't great. Right now I'm just focused on elementary schools since our kids are young, and we have no clue if/how long we'd stay.

We've talked to many locals (some who moved recently, some who are from there) who said they love it there and encouraged us to move. So we just wanted to see if we could get any other opinions.

Also, we will be working from home not worried about working down there.

Thanks!!

I live about an hour north. Have spent a lot of time in Cape May. Love Cape May point. Have actually considered moving to Cape May several times. But taxes and a bleak winter have always changed our minds. I know several couples that moved there after their kids were raised. Maybe schools are the reason.

If you are considering Jersey shore you might want to look at Somers Point and Linwood. A little inland and more year round.

Make sure you do your homework regarding flooding. And it does not have to be a hurricane. Full moon events can be problematic in some areas. This also goes for southern Delaware. Lewes was on our radar last year. Nice down there, also lower taxes. More year round. But much like NJ you have to do your flooding homework. I am very afraid of flooding.

I'd say also be sure that the stores you need are in a distance you can deal with.

Like if you like Costco the closest is in Stafford Springs (Manahawkin, NJ), BJ's in Mays Landing ,NJ and Sam's Club in Pleasantville, NJ.

Like you, I was thinking almost the same as you but I still need to work and there isn't much in that area of NJ.
