Have been living in Bergen County since I was a child.
The last 5 years it has become unbearable.
NY TLC plates all over driving aggressively.
Massive traffic jams, lots of NY plates(and NJ) aggressively tailgating.
Yesterday went to Panera Bread on Route 4 and believe it or not walking in the parking lot a guy was tailgating me!!!
It was a first ..guy walking about 3 feet behind me.
It seems most people are always in such a rush they have become animals.
Ever see people that walk to the Train station?
They are walking very briskly or running.
Not sure how the amount of Narcan rescues compares to other areas but it seems pretty high.
Granted the jobs are here in NJ and with relatively easy access to NYC for work it is a plus, but it seems like the quality of life may be better elsewhere.
I grew up in Oradell, and was looking to possible move back to Bergen County when my family and I do relocate to the U.S. My brothers who still live in the area told me its much more fast paced and upscale these days. Keeping up with the Joneses, majority of stay at home mom's shooting around town in their BMW's, and just a more superficial crowd these days compared with the 80's and 90's.
It's not just Bergen County, New Jersey, or even the Northeast. I started noticing this rude and dangerous behavior in the 1990s. It was going on before that, but it didn't happen every day or every week.
I 100% agree. I grew up in NW BC and came back after 15 years or so and it changed immensely. One thing I noticed was a real ramp-up in materalism, everyone is just very status conscious. It's not the same place I grew up and that's not just nostalgia talking
Agree with everyone's replies.
Wondering if in Morris County Boonton,Boonton Township,Denville,Rockaway,Montville differ from Bergen.
It would be nice to get away from all the European SUV's with blinding headlights!
The Boonton downtown seems like a big plus for the area.

Morris County is almost just as bad.
Sussex is a little better, but you'll still run into your crazy SUV drivers there too.

I think it is nostalgia talking. There are some regular towns, but that part of Bergen county has had more then its share of obnoxious rich people for many years. Ridgewood and Glen Rock have had this exact reputation for as long as I can remember.

No, it's not nostalgia talking. Yes, people had money but they weren't this materialistic
It wasn't the Ridgewood-Glen Rock area (further north and west)
