I'm looking for anyone who has any knowledge of taverns, gun clubs, vfw halls, amvet halls still operating turkey shoots in New Jersey. For the record no turkeys are hurt in this competition........basically its shooters shooting at paper targets with bullseyes at about 90 feet with 12 gauge shotguns and the one with the most pellets in the bullseye wins a frozen turkey, ham, pork loin, steaks, etc. There used to be many around but today there are only a few that I am aware of.......if anyone is aware a shoot like this I would truly welcome hearing from you.

As far as I know, the Browns Mills Moose used to do them. I used to see a sign on Magnolia Road, haven't been that way in years.
They stopped many years ago as well as many others. I think noise complaints from newer housing and insurance problems drove most to stop having them. I am aware of several still operating in the Lakehurst area and one down in Salem County (some year round) but thats about it. My problem is that I win frequently so I try to travel around so I don't wear out my welcome at any one location. So....again.....if anyone has specific information about turkey shoots still operating in South Jersey I would appreciate you passing it along to me.
