the money for your job isn't that good, at least for new jersey. you'd be (not quite so poor and maybe not so much) white trash living in a bad neighborhood open to crime and punishment. stay where you are or look for a job in another state. just trying to help you out. i'm sorry if it's not what you want to hear. good luck.
I didn't read all the posts but I commute to Newark from Hamilton. I think there are nice houses for 300,000 in Hamilton (or, actually, less.) There are differing neighborhoods in Hamilton, so you can find something you like, maybe. Check it out.
There are a lot of express trains to and from Newark and the parking is not so bad.
You can get a seat on the train in the morning, but sometimes not at night in boarding in Newark. There are buses to the train station if you don't want to park. Princeton is nearby.
