Hello,
I am not sure if its just me or if others also have this concern, I thought this is the right platform to get some persepctives. The governor, the mayor and the school management have all made a final decision that its mandatory that kids are supposed to attend the schools in person moving forward, needless to say that they are least concerned about the potential of severe ramifications it can have on both Kids as well as their parents health given the studies are coming out on the delta variant that its far more infectious than its predecessor the alpha variant. I as a parent of my elementary school going kids in Jersey city am very concerned given they are under the age of 12 and not vaccinated. I was hoping they will have a remote school option at least for the elementary school going kids but they don't. I have been researching alternatives and I am still very unsure on how to deal with this situation and my kids will lose their admission if they don't go to school after the school reopens first week of September. I will greatly appreciate if someone can share any ideas or alternatives to handle this situation
Children have almost no chance of being adversely affected by this virus. I personally would embrace that schools are actually open this year. (Although they should be mask free) and listen to a lot less of whatever Doom and gloom CNN and MSNBC are spewing. The sooner we resist and allow our lives to go back to normal the better.
Well they will be wearing masks all day, and I heard the Vineyard Vines masks give ultimate protection from the Delta Variant.
Don’t worry, schools will shut down again by October/November when kids start getting the sniffles. Teachers will be wearing scrubs again (to make a statement), and we can completely screw our children over for an additional year.
Oh well, at least we have recreational marijuana to look forward to. I hear it will be available when we can pump our own gas.
Look into homeschooling on your own if you are too concerned about sending your kids to school. But be consistent, no playdates with other kids, no bringing them to Target, no family gatherings outside your household. If that sounds too extreme, then you are probably just better off sending them to school.

You are more generous then I am. I give it until the middle of September before they go back to "virtual school." As long as Phil Murphy and the teacher's unions continue to run the state parents will be held hostage by the insane demands of the unions and their puppet master Phil Murphy. Basically schools will be "open" whenever the teacher's union deems they should be. No amount of data about how innocuous COVID is will change their mind.
I'm sure the constant fear of families having to go from 2 incomes down to 1 based on the whims of a the teacher's union has nothing to do with the labor shortage in the state.

I almost wonder if the original post is some type of joke? The poster says she's in Jersey City are we sure she didn't mean Montclair?
OP is no stand up comedian, there are better places to crack jokes to make people laugh. Curious to know why does place matter in this scenario? The issue mentioned in the post is pertinent to regardless of any city, state or even country.
