I have worked in several NJ school districts and the one terrible thing I've come to realize is that much of the time school admins sweep behavior complaints (in general) made by teachers under the rug. Students are sent out of class for being disruptive (same students day after day) and many times just sent back to class by Principal with big smiles on their faces and say "nothing happened, I didn't get in trouble'. I assume admins fear backlash from angry parents saying " My son didnt do nuffin". It has become one of biggest challenges teachers currently deal with. Yet, Admins always tell teachers they must report ALL bullying incidents, yet do nothing with those reports much of the time. I am hoping this teen suicide will be a wake up call for all school admins that they need to be much tougher on students with behavior problems in general because these are the students who do most of the bullying as well.

What does quitting accomplish? It's the cowards way out of an uncomfortable situation. If he quits his job, he won't have to deal with the media calling him at work among other things.
So tragic. How bad is bullying in high schools these days? Are there school districts where it is lower compared to others? Or is it the same everywhere?

I would say it varies from district to district. My son's high school has very few problems with bullying. However, there is a high school just a few towns over in a different district that has reports of significant problems.

In theory I agree with you. He made a mess and left it for someone else to clean up. But according to some of these parents, this has been an ongoing issue that was escalated and fell on deaf ears. If I’m a parent of a child at this school, I certainly don’t want the person who did nothing about it to remain in charge. They were likely calling for his resignation. To answer your question, quitting allows someone who people are more likely to trust to come in and address the issue. His punishment is he lost his job as a result of this.
Totally unrelated but I can’t help but think of him when I think of people who should resign, George Santos should be next.

A more blue collar or even rougher town, bullying is likely to be rougher. You also don't know the whole story.
Most parents have absolutely no clue what their children actually do ... from tormenting other kids in school, to coming on CD Forum and posting all kinds of garbage and riling up retirees...
Eh, rich kids just bully differently through isolation and exclusion. “Oh, you don’t have the luxuries that I do? You’re trash.” Social class has nothing to do with bullying. It’s just different tactics.

In order for George Santos to resign, Adam Schiff, Elizabeth Warren, even Biden has told bigger/more lies than Santos. Harry Reid (rip) probably the largest liar in the last 20 years has an international airport named after him.

yeah, I am sure there are lots of qualified applicants lined up to take that position and can start immediately hitting the ground running. They probably don’t even need to be screened or their background checked, or even interviewed. the hiring process can take five minutes, certainly not months to find the right candidate. I know I’m not gonna convince you, but this seems to be problematic all throughout society where the top person leaves at the slightest hint of a bad situation. To me, it is the ultimate cowardly act. If you make decisions in a position of leadership, you should stand by them and defend what you did unless you’re just a horrible leader and have no idea what you’re doing or have no desire to learn from mistakes and grow as a person
