Here's another "where should I live post." We're not from the area and are looking for all the help that we can get with the move.
I will be working in the courthouse in Somerville for a year long commitment starting in September. My husband, however, will be working in D.C. so I would prefer something that is closer to the Amtrak line around Trenton or Princeton so that the D.C. trip isn't too long.
I'm looking for a town that would be within 30-40 minutes of both Somerville and the Amtrak train station (Northeast Corridor line).
About us, we're a late 20s couple who have been in a college town for many years and really like that type of atmosphere (the artsy/cultural atmosphere, but not the drunk undergrads type of environment). Bonus points for an area where we could have some type of green space, accessible to jogging paths, and where there is a local farmers market/CSA (community supported agriculture) type place to get groceries.
Also, we have a cat and are looking to spend under $1600 a month in rent.
Well, the Amtrak trains don't stop at all of the NE corridor stations, so you'll be somewhat limited. I believe they only stop in Trenton and Metropark. Given the parking situation at the Trenton station, I'd be looking around Metropark if I were you. You'll get a decent apartment for $1600, you'll be near everything, and the commute to Somerville wouldn't be that bad (around 30-40 minutes).
