Hi all - I am currently residing in North Edison and love the commute options. However, the schools are getting worse day by day and the city is getting crowded. I've decided to move. I mostly work 3-4 days from home but need to commute to NYC few days a week. My wife works in Hoboken. Therefore, commute options to NYC and Hoboken is a must have. 1 hour or less commute would be nice but should not exceed 1 hr 30 min each way.

We have two kids, 4 and 7 years old. We have few years until they hit the HS requirements. However, looking for a decent/very good elementary school. I would like to stay within top 25 HS in the state. I can go uptp $900k on the budget. The short list so far includes West Windsor and Basking Ridge. Milburn is out of reach but like the school and commute to NYC. Basic home need is around 3400 to 4000 sq ft. 3 Full bath is a must. Need 3 BR as a minimum, but looking for 4th or 5th BR as Den/Guest room/Library/In-law suite with attached bath (I have heavy traffic of guests). Need some yard for the kids to play in back.

Wondering if Basking Ridge is worth the price when compared to WW. What is that I am truly going to gain and compensate for? I would love to hear from the locals who have raised or are raising kids in these locales. Any other city that offers the bang for the buck for next 15 years that should be on my short list? Any input shall be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Long Valley in Washington Twp. - Morris County may be a great option for you. Excellent schools and in your price range, you can get a nice Mcmansion : ) Commute may be a bit rough but the train goes direct into Hoboken from this area and there's also Martz Trailways bus line which is about 1 hr 20 mins into NYC. Neighboring Chester is also very nice...Lebanon may be another choice. What's nice about LV is that Rt. 78, Rt. 206, Rt. 46 and Rt. 80 are easily accessible from most of the township.

I know nothing of Basking Ridge, but I love West Windsor.

Ditto Sunil's Dad!
Great schools, nice community but a healthy commute to Hoboken and NYC!
