I think we're screwed no matter what... I think W has been the single worst President in the history of the US and even my die hard Republican pals now agree. Yeah, Carter was bad, but not AS bad.

I think the clean up will be intense and I wonder if either candidate is up to it. Obama is 'unknown' in a lot of ways but (sorry if it sounds trite..) he's a CHANGE. McCain is more of the same...and the same is doing nothing but putting our country in the crapper.
If you think this administration is bad, you need to go back to around 1854, go into Wikipedia, and type in 'Bloody Kansas', 'Ostend Manifesto', 'Dred Scott', etc. You had about 10-12 years of absolutely horrible leadership leading up to Fort Sumter that almost destroyed the fabric of this country.

Too often the critics of the current administration come from the People Magazine generation and don't have a real acute sense of U.S. history.

OK - so let me rephrase... The worst administration in modern times? The worst administration in my lifetime? Would that make you feel better?

I'm not so sure I would even agree with modern times. There are many barometers which can be applied vis a vis domestic and foreign policy, and their relative importance. In my lifetime, the occupant of the presidency when I was born (LBJ) for instance, to me is the worst of very unimpressive lot.

I second the vote for LBJ. He is the worst in "recent" times and definetly one of the worst-ever.

Regardless of the timeframe, ratings system, or whose lifetime you wish to use as the reference, GWB has not been a "good" president. This is blatantly visible not only by the current state of the economy, international opinion, approval rating, etc., etc., etc.

Either way, he is also in his last year. We have the next idiot to deal with, still TBD.

The "system" is very broken... both parties... how we elect our officials, how they get AWAY with it. It's funny, I tend to be more Dem than Rep, but I can go either way. I vote on the issues. But I have a die hard GOP cousin who loves to argue w/ me. But we agree on many issues. Like one. I once said "How McGreevy can walk the streets of NJ freely without absoloute fear for his life is beyond me." We, of course, agreed. LOL But that's just on example of how passive we've become as a whole... we just care more about the new Batman movie than the things that really effect us...it's so sad. I'm going to have to get off this topic or I'll be depressed for the day. LOL
