Too often the Presidential Election tends to include 3 main parties... One Republican, One democrat and typically one Libertarian. What ends up happening is Fed Up democrats tend to through their vote over to the Libertarian which only takes votes away from the democratic candidate and it usually leads to another old man Republican in office. Republicans must love it when a libertarian throughs his/her name on the ballot. Today, it's the Democrats time to smile : ) I hope this guy does run as it will level the playing field!!! With third parties, I don't think you can jump in this far in the game and get ahead; theres too much of a movement for each party, to the point where people get almost religious about it. Ross Perot was the most well known third-party candidate; he began in February, really.

While I'm not a fan of our candidates from either of the two major parties, its going to be tough to garner the rep Bob Barr would need to get voted in.

I don't think he'll get in either... I just like the fact that there's a threat of wasted votes coming from the republican side - it's typically wasted votes on the demo. side. Even playing field!!!

The playing field is not level in NJ Wiley, as your article from yesterday pointed out. And that article is seven years old. There are just more registered Democrats in NJ, and more people of the mind and philosophy that government should confiscate income from productive citizen A, and redistribute it to undeserving citizen B. There is no mystery behind this dynamic, and it will only continue to increase as more who are productive escape to more tax-friendly states, and are displaced by more unproductive people.

Well this is a Federal position, not a State position... and I'm none to pleased with any of the candidates - I just want to see a fair election for a change. Republican or Democrat... either way we are in for a raping as someone has to repair the damage done over the past 8 yrs. I'm not sure either of the candidates running will be able to manage it without dipping into our pockets. Agreed?

I don't see Barr as having much of an impact. I doubt he would be pucked out of a lineup by anyone but the most dedicated political enthusiasts, and his current political affiliations seem too far left (ACLU?) for most Republicans to follow him out on that ledge.

Nader had name recognition, Perot had huge cash reserves to buy his place in the mainstream coverage. I doubt Barr has either...

My mistake, I thought you were referring to the NJ gubenatorial election for next year.

My quibble with Democrats Wiley, overall, is when it comes to increasing taxes, class warfare invariably comes into play, and tax increases are initally only proposed on "The Wealthy" and those "who have the ability to pay" but eventually, the increases hit across the board. My position is that if you are going to increase taxes, or decrease taxes, for that matter, it should be done equitably, without demonizing those who have earned more money than others.

I completely agree - the only reason I vote democratic is for personal reason...human rights. If I have to pay more to be treated as an equal by voting for a democrat..then so be it.
