I don't know, you can kill people pretty efficiently with a steak knife, a scalpel, a car (you can kill MANY people with a car, VERY easily), a homemade blowgun and poisoned dart, a chainsaw, a high powered nail gun, etc.
Those arguments don't work well with me for that reason, considering how easy it is to get a one ton killer (car), with or without a license.

I feel like all of the threads this week are running together. As echoed in another thread, improve access to opportunity and education and people won't have a reason to commit crime. At that point which weapon to use is irrelevant.
Also, keep in mind that what the decision really states is that the second amendment is NOT only meant for members of a militia. That has been the BIGGEST argument for the gun control lobbyists. That private citizens should not be allowed to own guns. This supreme court decision states that it IS legal AND protected by the constitution. However, it does not usurp the states right to issue gun control laws. Such as a ban on carry permits, required registration, mandatory trigger locks, etc.
Still a victory but not the winfall some people think it is.
For example, NJ has always been an open carry state BUT, try to get a carry permit and you will be blocked every step of the way. I think there was a report not too long ago that said almost 90% of all carry permits that have been issued to NJ residents in the last 10 years were cops or ex cops. The other 10% were/are judges. We have always been allowed to own guns in NJ. I have had 4 hand guns and 2 rifles. The issue, in NJ anyway, is that the state allows the municipalities to set their own rules ON TOP of what the state says. So, just because NJ says its ok doesnt mean its allowed in your town. Just as the Fed states that the second amendment allows and protects private citizens rights to own guns it doesnt step on the states toes to govern those rights.

Wow I can't wait to get my first pistol. Instead of flipping off somebody who cuts me off or is driving too slow in the fast lane, now I'll be able to either shoot out their tires or if they really **** me off I can take them out completely.
Come on lousy drivers Make My Day.
Unfortunately the liberal northeast mayors (Bloomberg) said nothing will change as the requirements to carry have to be met. As for me I only carried one because I have to 24/7. Can't wait to put it to bed. Or should I say leave it next to my bed.

Thats because many of our problems can be traced to the same issues - lack of opportunity and education.
Does anyone else here think Japan does it right? Technical schools for all kinds of specialties for those that aren't going to a university?
The NRA immediately filed lawsuits in several notoriously unfriendly to gun cities and States after the decision of SCOTUS was announced earlier today. More to follow.

Theres always the good old bow and arrow or crossbow That way you can go medieval on someones ass (I should put that in the quote thread....)
The 2nd amendment was written to ensure citizens retain the right to own and bear firearms without infringement. Specifically to have firearms for not only self defense, this is not written in the amendment. Without infringement means 'Without Infringement".
Our country had just won it's independence from a tyrannical Britain. Independence was gained and freedom won from an oppressive government by use of force of the people. I doubt very highly that our founding fathers whom wrote the Constitution were not specifically concerned that government tyranny would rise it's ugly head again.
The 2nd amendment was written to ensure to the people their continued freedoms and liberties from the government. I am just glad our appointed Supreme Court realized the need for the people to keep and bear arms, it's more real now then ever since our independence.
