does anyone know, first-hand, how the job market is for RNs in Northern Jersey...North Bergen and area?
thanks
I would think the market for RNs would be high in any area of NJ. High demand for nurses in NJ. Maybe try nj.com. They have a great employment listing section.
thanks i will try the website...the reason i was asking is that many hospitals have closed in jersey...and wondering how this has affected the market...thanks again for your reply...pat

Have they closed or were they bought out or taken over by other organizations? There's a bunch in Morris County...reverse commute from Bergen. Might be a good option for you as well.
you will be in great demand in Northern NJ despite a hospital here or there closes. A RN is a great commodity. Most of the big hospitals have there own website or human resource dept or hotline. Hackensack, Valley, Englewood always need good nurses especially an RN! There is the aging factor and still a ton of people in Bergen County.
thanks for the job sites...also, wondering if working in manhattan would be a good choice...living in north bergen would be an easy commute...wondering if the salary in manhattan would off-set the commute...any advice??

You won't have trouble finding a job as an RN depending on your level of experience. If you have a few years experience you can get hired anywhere. You won't make much more money in Manhattan compared to some of the larger hospitals in NJ. Hackensack University Medical Center pays the most around here. $40+ an hour for RN's with experience.
In many of the areas of Northern New Jersey, especially away from NYC the average age of the population is more than a bit older than the average for New Jersey, so will RN's be in demand in these areas, YES very much so. My sister is an RN in Minneapolis, and just for fun a few months ago she looked at what she could get moving here, and found that she could have her pick of places to work, and many of them would pay 45% more than she makes back where she is now.
