He also is a hugely staunch critic of the 9/11 conspiracy theories that have emerged, including on his show.
See for yourself:
YouTube - Bill Maher 10/19/07 - 9/11 conspiracy nuts get manhandled

And, sorry, but Maher is a bit different than the "Hollywierd" (as you call it) clique. He's a member of the SIERRA club, he's active in PETA (and not as extreme as some of the members in his group), and a number of other groups. I'd rather have someone in Hollywood stand up for what he believes in than have them be like Lindsay Lohan, who's nothing but a beer sponge that doesn't that "Drink Canada Dry" is a slogan, not a dare.
The Lindsay Lohan joke..good one.

Ok, thanks for the enlightenment. I admit that I had no idea how liberal or not so liberal he actually is. I guess he's a liberal with a brain. And truly, I guess he doesn't REALLY fall into the category of Hollyweird. I still think he runs a very one-sided show...

Here's the thing for me...anytime a a member of Hollyweird takes a political stance (and trust me, I wish they'd ALL shut-up no matter what side of the fence they sit on) it only seems that the conservative ones find themselves shunned from the rest of the Hollyweirdness (roles, jobs, parties, etc.)

For example...what happened to Dennis whatshisface? The (leaning conservative) comedian who had the same sort of show on HBO that Bill Maher does? As I understand it..he too got shunned from Hollyweird for not falling into the "liberal at all costs" category?

I was making dinner the other night and my oldest put the tv on in the kitchen..he wanted channel 47 (Nick Jr. or something along those lines) and instead he punched in 37 (fox news)...apparently it was during the DNC and the clip that was being shown was celebrity after celebrity telling the FN reporter who was TRYING to interview them : "Why would I speak to you?" or "Are you kidding?" or "fox news? I don't think so". Bill Maher was one of them.

All I could think that more likely than not these morons would sit down with a reporter from Al Jazeera any day of the week but to have an opportunity to be civil and explain to those who watch fn WHY they support Obama and are at the DNC and what they hope to see in the future...they couldn't even be polite to the poor guy there trying to interview them....yet they'll talk to any arse wipe when they've got a new movie or sitcom coming out.
Go figure that one out. I can't. Either too self-absorbed or have no clue why they support who they do? I was heartbroken to see my Chevy Chase act as pompous as the rest. I still love him anyway..

Are you referring to Dennis Miller? I'm not sure if he's shunned from Hollywood but it looks like he's "something at all costs" as he only seems to pop up on republican only type programming,I think he's even started showing more of the arrogance that comes with it as well
