I believe we only get about 6% of our oil from the us? I believe most of it..and this may shock some, comes from canada! Perhaps we need to invade their county next : )) But then again..I may be wrong.
its true ,most of our oil comes from canada and only 17 % from the middle east
we need to drill our own oil while creating a manhattan type projuect for alternative energy sources
but not sources developed from food sources ,this is a mistake and will only lead to food shortages which in turn will only drive food prices higher
I thought so! My dad...WWII Marine tells me all the time how the Russians ran their vehicles on wtr. during WWII. We always just thought he was nuts! can't help but wonder if it isn't true
I'd rather pay more for gas then drill off our (my) coastline, and I'm a registered republican. Maybe alternative fuels might come into play at some time in our immediate future than digging gigantic holes into the earth. Maybe we should have a group like PETA that goes around pouring sugar in the big SUVs gastanks that get 6 miles to the gallon.(only kidding).
Agreed on the food sources. I also am consurled about this. The drilling off shore, if in Jersey, could be a huge hit to tourism. Heaven knows what it will do to the environment.
I don't think I'm loving the lifting of this ban....
Oil company wrecks a beach with a spill they not only get to clean up the spill the pay each hotel the full rate for every unfilled room for the entire time of the cleanup.
I take the ALL OF THE ABOVE approach. Nukes, oil, solar, wind, bags on cow butts to catch methane... whatever it takes.
Don't they drill miles off the coast where you won't even see the stations?
yes they do..how many spills and wrecking of the Gulf Coast in TX & MS have you heard off..LA coast isn't nice beaches to begin with. They are so far off shore that when hurricanes are predicted they helicopter the workers back to shore
Have you any idea how many tankers come into Pt Newark every day for the refineries in Elizabeth?? No spills

Kate with all due respect google the 1969 Santa Barbara oil spill. I remember driving the California coast with my wife before we had kids. You could see these big platforms lurking right off the coast. It was a disgrace. They were and are only 5 or 6 miles off the coast there.
