Any thoughts on living in Monroe, NJ? Commute to NYC? Schools? Your neighbors? Thanks!

Everyone I talk to loves Monroe. I sell a lot in Monroe. However, my personal opinion is that it does not make for an easy commute unless you are close to the Turnpike, it does not have a town center, and the low taxes that everyone loves will most definitely go up with all the growth in Monroe. I am not bashing the town at all though. I think it's nice and has schools that are getting better each year. The people that live there are also very friendly and you have a ton of seniors, plus a lot of young couples with young children living there. There has been a ton of new construction, so the town is growing. Looking at the big picture, Monroe is a good buy right now, but be prepared for many changes in the future. If a town meant for 5000 people turns into 15000 people over five years, you're going to need expanded roads, you'll have more traffic, new and bigger schools, etc. so be prepared for all that comes with it.

I remember Monroe 11 yrs. ago when my ex worked down there. We only had one car and I would drive him to work. What a difference these years made. At the time it was all open space, acres and acres of land. Now I go there every so often- WOW, what a change. Now there are sooo many developements, new schools. I get lost evertime I go there. I can't find my way around anymore. I heard that someday the taxes will catch up with all this construction. I personally don't like a town with so many developments. Every house looks like every other. I think it's gotten to big. Obviously, the land hasn't changed but I think too many houses too close to each other.

Nice town if you don't mind what they call the "cookie cutter houses".
