I recently got a job in Nutley.I would like to know what are the better and safer places to stay nearby and commute daily. I live in Jersey city now it takes like an hour for me to go by bus and its 12 miles from my place so is it better to buy a car instead of moving there. How's the traffic during the office hours. How good is East orange?
You may as well live in Nutley. It is a very nice community (one of the very few left in that area). If you're going to compare living in Nutely to East Orange, there's no comparison. It would be wise to look to rent there especially if you work there.
Nutley is an overall OK/Nice town. Strong Italian community. Like the previous post might as well stay there. If not try Cedar Grove, Verona, or Montclair. The Caldwells could also be a possibility but they are a longer commute than the towns previously mentioned. For the most part I wouldn't reccomend a majority of the oranges [especially orange and e. orange, s. orange and w. orange have some nice parts though], also I wouldn't recommend Bloomfield.
The Oranges are a pretty polarizing topic on this forum. This is my take on the oranges.
East Orange = ghetto, stay away
Orange = middle class black town, not so bad
South Orange = probably the best of the Oranges, with good rail access to NYC
West Orange = pretty nice, has both white and black sections of town
Thank you all for your suggestions. I also need one more help.
I found some reasonable apartments near Nutley, i would like your comments on them. The places are Irvington,Kearny and little ferry. How safe are these places and how good are the apartments over there.Especially i found some cheap apartments in kearny and little ferry which makes me more skeptical about those places.
irvington has the highest crime rate in the US so i would stay away from that. However Kearny and Little Ferry are pretty nice. Kearny is a little more exessible when it comes to transportation but little ferry is just a couple minutes to Hackensack train station. Kearny is probably going to be more expensive cause its in Hudson County. Both overall are safe though but if you ask me Kearny has a better downtown compared to Little Ferry's car dealer lots.
