Should NJ have a statewide playoff to decide HS FB champs?

We should have less champs, if not one, then four or three (2 for north, one for central, and 1 for south)

For example, we have so many HS Football Champs, but Cali, Texas, and NY have less champs, but way more High Schools than we do, and their states are much more spread out than ours

Agreed.......... But it's hard with Catholic schools VS public. It would be the same champs every year, for the most part. I don't know how other states work that out, but it seems very unfair.
With that said, LETS GO ST. PETER'S PREP & TEANECK!!!!!!!!!!!!

why would it be hard with Catholic vs public?

I know the Catholic schools is all boys so chances they have better FB players is higher, but there are public with more boys than Don Bosco

I have also noticed Don Bosco and Bergen Catholic do not go down south to play South Jersey powerhouse programs

Traditionally South Jersey has produced better college players than the north

I always wondered why there wasn't a State championship with one winner. Very odd. That said we all know Mountain Lakes would win it anyway.....

Here are the champs / groups for this year:

One overall champ? Well, it sounds great initially... but is it really fair to match a school with 600 students against a school with 2500? I don't think so.

I'd like to see one champ for each public school division and one champ for parochial. So in total, five champs... D1, D2, D3, D4, and Parochial.

We have twenty champs right now, and they are split north, central, and south

I am in favor of like four or three champs

That is retarded cuz we are not a big state, let the three regions come together and slug it out

the things is we do not have lots of schools with 2000+ kids, we only need D1, 2, and 3, but they should not be separated by the region

the catholic schools should not be separated from the public schools, I mean, what purpose would that serve?

Sounds like New Jersey is pretty backwards when it comes to HS FB play-offs. In Ohio we have 6 champions, which I think is a pretty fair number. It gives the rural farm boys from a 2,000 person town just as fair a shot to win their division as it gives the Catholic powerhouse with 1,200 boys from Cincinnati or Cleveland to win their division.

I dunno. Mountain Lakes only has 600 students and they won their group.

They have to seperate it by division. When I played for Elizabeth Varsity we would suit 50-60 guys for a big game (only V and JV. Had another 40-50 on the freshman and sophmore teams combined.) No way a little 600 student school can compare to that.

I would like to see playoffs between N, C, S, P sections then 4 final state champs.
