The story about cat abuse has rightly invoked the anger of many readers, many of whom who hold no mercy toward the accused.
It is interesting to note the outpouring of response to such animal abuse articles as compared to hardly a notice when it comes to extreme child abuse and resultant death.
Why do you think the public response is so different? Privately I'm sure the many readers have their own dark thoughts of justice.
The legal system and general society look for extenuating circumstances to mitigate the visciousness of the crimes commited by accused and convicted criminals to temper punishment. Some of the most heinous criminal cases portray the criminal as a victim of his past. Take the case of the Piscataway mom being kidnapped abused and murdered while her toddler was left out in the cold. Family members were restrained from testifying while the perps little daughter gave testimony to play on the sympathy of the court.
Yet we often hear calls for extermination of people accused of animal abuse or certainly a call for maximun penalties. At least for the folks who express their feelings on public forums.
Reports of child abuse are rising in current times and yet rarely if ever do any readers start posts to decry such despicable human behavior.
Attached article reports of an increase of child abuse in NJ.

Again, not to start a controversy but just curious about the seemingly different response of caring people to animal abuse vs child abuse stories.
