Twice I hit $450 in dollar slots, using the "Red White and Blue" slot machine. The last time was Saturday on the Final Four in 1996. I took my earnings down to Margate and watched the games while eating buffalo wings and drinking Yuengling on tap. A great, memorable night!

When it comes to blackjack, the most I've ever won was $260 on a $5 minimum table, no less. I was down to my last $5 too, and fought back. Probably my greatest gambling experience.

That said, those are the highlights. I've lost a lot more than I've won. And I don't play any other table games either, because they are losers. The only one I am tempted to play is craps. I don't even play slots any longer, just blackjack. I haven't played in AC for a long time now, but play about once or twice a year at the indian casinos here in New Mexico.

Won - about 1600
Lost - about 800

I'd say out of every 10 visits it goes like this:
- 5 visits, break even (win/lose $25-50)
- 3 visits, lose $100-300
- 2 visits, win $100-500

I set my budget, usually, at 300. If I lose it all I stop. Usually. A few times I've taken out an extra hundred or two, sometimes it's helped, sometimes it's hurt, but most often that extra doesn't grow or shrink.

The key to gambling is money management. Play the stakes you can afford to enjoy for a while. The longer you stay in a game, the better your chance of catching a streak where you can win and beat the odds.

I do the same thing. Usually we only stay one or two nights. Set my limit for $300 in a day. Take out the cash in the begining. if i lose it, im done until the next day.

Anyone know where the Asian guys down there come from and where they get all this $$$? Those guys are nuts haha

I always wonder about those Asian guys, too!!! They all look like they've been working in small Chinese take-out restaurants all their lives, saving everything and then going to AC to gamble it all - win or lose. Those guys pull out wads of 100's like they're singles. I've seen them whip out several hundreds and just throw it down on a single bet at a baccarat or roulette table like it was $7 instead of $700.

You do it the right way, I do the same. I go with my $300, I'll even set mini-limits for myself. I'll try to limit myself to $100, and if I blow $100 very quickly I take a loooooong break; I walk around, go get a drink, go eat something, go watch TV, whatever. I give it a lot of time for the bad vibes to clear out, lol. However, if the initial $100 is lasting a while, even if I lose it but I'm having fun and not losing quickly, I'll go into the rest of the $300.

If I lose more than $200 VERY quickly, even with a break in the middle of it, I will usually go play some low stakes poker, because you can play poker for a long time with little money, even if you lose. Pai Gow poker is another good game to stretch out a little money and still enjoy gambling.

I prefer Vegas to AC because for the kind of gambler I am (and you, too, apparently, with the same budget) I can get a LOT more for my gambling dollar. In addition, there are SO many more distractions which are better, so when I'm losing I can find a lot more to keep me occupied and away from the tables. The buffets are better and cheaper, they're much less stingy with the drinks, there are a lot more free shows and music. Also, they have lower minimum bets at a lot of places, things you would never see in AC.

I play mostly craps, and also a little Roulette. In AC, I'm lucky to find a craps table that's $10 minimum, in Vegas $5 are easy to find, and I even know several places with $3 craps (but I don't bother with that). Roulette in AC tends to run $10 or $15 minimum with $1 chips if you're lucky; in Vegas, you can find $5 tables with $1 or $.50 chips, and I know of places that have $1 or $2 minimum with $.25 chips! (I used to know a place with 10-cent roulette, lol).

So, in Vegas, it's easier to play a while longer on that same $100 and more of a chance to catch a good winning streak, and THEN bump up your wager amounts (on won money, of course). Last December I had my best win ever. I had my $400 limit to last me over 5 days in Vegas. My 2nd day there I went to a meet & greet party, having hardly gambled but having lost $100 the day before. After the party, we went to the Riviera with some people from the party who wanted to learn craps. At a $5 table, I was able to play very casually for about 20 minutes and was only down about $45, while teaching some of the others how to play. One of the new girls playing was a "virgin" shooter, and I was about to leave to cut my losses and not lose more than $45. I figured that for a $5 table, it wouldn't hurt to stay for one more shooter; I'd have walked if I lost another $20-30. Well, this girl ended up shooting for about 1 hour and 15 minutes, and I won well over $5500!!! That's the most I ever won gambling, anywhere.

But, by contrast, the day before, when I lost $100 at craps, I went to the El Cortez and played $20 worth of their 25-cent roulette. I played for almost 2 hours and won an additional $20. At one point I was up over $40. But I was there to sit and play, I knew I wouldn't lose a lot or win a lot, and I knew it would take time either way.

Had I been in AC, I would have lost my $100 and I'd have had to find something to entertain me, they have no 25-cent roulette. Also, had I been in AC, I wouldn't have been able to stick around a $10 table on my limit and I would have walked away before the $5,000+ roll.

On top of it, in Vegas, there is much more to explore and see just by walking around, plus the food, entertainment, etc. is more plentiful, better quality, and cheaper.

AC is nice but it's a tough place for a gambler unless you have a lot of money to gamble (and lose).

I was alone in Reno once, and put down $1200 (What I had gotten paid to drive out there) or something on black on roulette once and lost. Last time i ever went gambling. In the long haul, probably well worth the loss for me to never gamble again It was a long drive back to NJ. It'd prob nice to go back with the wife for a night though.
