Mini-piles to stabilize the soil under the field, most likely. The stadium is built on a swamp (hence the title "The Meadowlands"), and anything that isn't fastened down to the stable soil/rock layers below tends to be unstable. A wavy football field isn't a good thing.....
Now if they can only sell the seats. Other new stadiums are having a tough time.
After being told he would have to wait years for season tickets, they called a relative asking him if he was interesting in getting them now. The PSL is going to kill the renewals.
I'm all for the job creation and the tax revenue. To me it's just mind boggeling to look at the grand scale of this stadium and realize its there so that people can gather to watch grown men chase a ball around. Is there anyone else who finds this comical?
The old one had some issues with sightlines, ADA seating, overall capacity, and the number of suites. Newer stadiums have far more suites and premium features than the old Giants Stadium, which generate major revenue for the teams. In order to stay competitive revenue-wise, they either needed to do major renovations (in the order of $300 million, and still have crappy sightlines and less suites than the newer stadiums) or build new. You can see which route they took.

Better yet, it's empty roughly 300 days out of the year. Of course, what's even more comical is that they couldn't afford to build billion dollar stadiums and pay 8-digit salaries to guys who run around for a few hours on Sunday if people weren't paying $30,000 for a season ticket, $100 for a jersey, and $8 for a watered down beer. Who's laughing now???
Are the PSLs really going to be 30k? I love watching football, but for that price, I'd just assume watch a local high school team. At some point, consumers of these games are going to stand on principle and emphatically say 'no' when it comes to renewing their season tickets, and sad to say, if the rate is 30k a seat, I'd love to see that happen with the Giants and the Jets. The only way for the prices to go down is for people to stop buying at these rates. Couple that with the fact that the league has a huge PR problem right now with players and the law, and you could see a mass push back. If there was no such thing as sports, many of these players would be trimming lawns or collecting garbage twice a week for the local municipality.
30k a seat for the PSL fee is just mind boggling to me.
