Hi all. Moving from PA to NJ. Got a job offer with only health insurance for me and not my wife and kids. According to my research, the kids may not be eligible for Medicaid b/c I would make just over the guidelines in income. It seems like, though, I've heard in some states kids have to have health insurance. Is there some kind of NJ state program for health insurance for kids if an employer doesn't offer insurance?

NJ Family Care allows families without insurance for their children to purchase reasonably priced health insurance. You can get further information on their website:

Your employer can include your family and deduct the difference from your paycheck. This would be the least expensive option. You may want to ask them?

Not necessarily, I know in my last position I had people dropping their children left and right because it was cheaper to put them on FamilyCare than to pay the outrageous premiums we had for a family at our company.
