Looking to apply here, and wondering if there are any nice, safe areas within a 30 min commute? Looking to hopefully spend no more than 200,000 on a home. Thanks!

Naval Weapons Station Earle? You can't expect civilians to know about these things or where they are.

I've been there, but don't know much about it other than it's expensive. I'll bow out.

I'm sorry that I can't help.

a zillow search shows a couple of homes in colts neck in the $200-300K range and up. it's an expensive town but there are reasonably priced homes available. taxes are reasonable (for new jersey) although we don't have sidewalks, trash removal, city water or street lights. good luck!

eta: it may be difficult to find something in the immediate area in your price range but you should call a realtor to help out.

$200,000 in Colts Neck would buy you a nice 2 car garage.

Keansburg, Hazlett, Union Beach, Keyport. An easy commute to where you'll be stationed.

Isn't it on Route 36 in Middletown? Either way, $200,000 is probably not feasible.

NWS Earle is on Route 34 in Colts Neck, just south of Route 18. There is, however, a government road that runs from Earle out to Sandy Hook and probably at somepoint crosses Route 36.

Unfortunately, $200,000 in Monmouth County will not get you much.
