My family and I are thinking of moving to Holmdel.

Anyone have any good/bad opinions to offer?
Particular neighborhoods one would recommend/stay away from?

We are looking in the top range of $750,000.

Any advice about commuting to NYC and/or early morning traffic (6:45am) on the Parkway heading north would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm a North Jersey girl, so my information is limited, I'm sure there are others on the board who can help you more. But...

I know the schools are very highly ranked and I know whenever I've driven through Holmdel (or visited my one friend who lives there) I LOVE it and wish I could move there! Good luck.

There aren't really bad neighborhoods in Holmdel. You'll be able to find a nice home in your range.

I have some friends that live in Holmdel, its a great town in a great location. The town is right off the GSP (either 117 or 114 exits), which makes commuting very easy. The Matawan train station is close by as well. There are no bad towns surrounding the area, so no need to worry much about safety.

I agree with the consensus...Holmdel is a great town, period. There are no bad areas that you need to look out for or anything. The entire town is very nice, and if I was thinking of moving, Holmdel would be one of my first choices to look into (along with most of the towns surrounding it). The schools are also top-of-the-line.

Good luck with your move.

Holmdel is a great town.

95 % of it.

I would just avoid "the Woods at Holmdel" as its not really in Holmdel, but I think thats below your price range anyway. Same with spots right next to the train.

great decision.. Moved here 1 year ago and no regrets! Love the schools, the commute is not bad and the neighborhood very safe and friendly! You should look at the house on Sage St. in Holmdel. Just took a look at it myself this weekend for a family member and it is so nice for the money.. its high 8's but im sure negotiable! Good luck! great town.. very high ranked schools.. i have 3 in there now and they are amazing!
