Hi all,

I need a auto mechanic to install an aux input system to my car, can someone please suggest me a good and cheap mechanic around jersey city area.

I couldn't find the nearby best buy(secaucus) having installation services in there.Does meineke do that?

Thanks in advance.

Nope Meineke doesn't do that. Try the Best Buy up in Paramus up near the Garden State Plaza or the one in West Paterson off Rt. 46. They're only 15 min or so from the Secaucus store.

Electrical and audio installation is not something I would have any auto mechanic do. Auto mechanics are usually good for mechanical type "wrench twisting" stuff.

Find yourself a good auto electric or stereo type place for that.
Only one I know of is in Kenilworth on market St, just off the GSP.

ANy car audio instal place should be able to install something like that.

My question is, what Aux input system do you have?

I wasn't aware anything existed like that to add to a stereo that does not have one.

Your best bet is to buy an aftermarket stereo that has an Aux input built in (most now have USB too).

Getting an aftermarket stereo or amplifier put in a car these days is not as easy task and it could be expensive. Cars are designed so that the radio is part of a large control panel and in many cases is molded specifically for the car. Unless you have an older car or you know for a fact the stereo can be replaced or modified you might be disappointed. You can try some of the better audio-video stores around, some of them might install.

+1

Unless your current system is designed to have an audio input you will have to buy a new radio (head unit) and depending on your car, it may not look very good if you have a contoured dash. But, new headunits can be bought and installed usually for under $300.

What are you talking about?

EVERY car made can have an aftermarket radio installed. While not my 1st choice in adding an amp, one can be added to a factory radio with ease using low leve speaker to RCA adapters.

The issue with the OP is adding an Aux in (for ipod,MP3, sirius, etc) to an existing radio.
THAT I have never seen.

Go to Crutchfield.com and find me a car that does not have any radios listed that can be installed (with instructions and adapters to do yourself no less).

There are aftermarket add-ons to enable an aux port to be added to some cars' factory stereos. The Mazda3s (at least when my wife bought hers in 2006) didn't come with an aux port but there is a company that makes an aftermarket aux port add on. She's been trying to get me to install one in her car. I need to get around to that.
