I'm taking the Acela train to DC for a couple days from Penn Station in Newark. Is there cheap (long-term type) parking in the area?
Thanks,

Dick

There is parking directly outside of the station on Raymond Blvd, but I don't think it is cheap. There is more parking one stop down the PATH in Harrison, but I dont' know if they allow long term parking.

Im pretty sure that the parking near Rutgers is cheap. Not sure if there is long term though. Why dont you just take public trans to Newark?

There's a lot behind the Penn Plaza buildings that slightly cheaper than the lots right at the station, but you're still going to be paying $20+/day for parking.

At Harrison its only $6 per day or $4 (with lots of quarters) for street side parking. Even paying for the PATH train into Newark and parking in Harrison is cheaper than parking Down-neck.

The daily rate for my parking space is $13 a day. I park right under Penn Station.

You can park at the smaller Portuguese parking lots off of Ferry Street behind the train station. The going rate is $5 or $6 on the weekends and a bit more during the week. Not sure about long term parking though.

I suggest taking public transportation to Newark or getting a ride/getting a taxi.
