I will be staying in downton Trenton at the Marriott, I have a meeting at the capital building and was told that the hotel is close to it. I know it's located on West Lafayette street. Is that area ok...all I've heard is about how crime ridden trenton is, so, I'm wondering about this area.

You should be fine operating in that little area. The hotel may tell you to be careful walking after dark and I'm sure you will take whatever they say into consideration.

It's fine. You can walk to the meeting if the weather is nice. That area is crawling with police and about a zillion state workers during normal business hours, so you will be perfectly safe.

The Marriott is pretty much the ONLY place to stay if you have a business meeting in Trenton, especially the capitol building, which is visible from the Marriott. You may want to see if the Trenton Thunder (minor league baseball team for the NY Yankees) have a home game the night(s) you are there. If so, you will notice more police crawling around at night too but it's still safe to just be out and about during normal business hours.

My suggestion is not to walk around at night. It's a ghost town in that area once the last shift of state workers let out at 5:00pm.
