i have family visiting from puerto rico and so we must do something super interesting tomorrow. right now, my wife is planning on going to the camden aquarium. thats up there with making love to a cheese grater for me, so im just wondering what new years special things are planned for tomorrow. the less money i have to spend the better (unless its really awesome! ill happily pay for fun, unhappily for torture). children involved are an 18 year old, a 13 or so year old and a 3 year old. my child is the 3 year old and if she is having fun, im having fun.
Mummers are men and women of all ages who belong to more than 40 organized clubs that make up the parade participants. The clubs, split into five divisions—Comics, Wench Brigades, Fancies, String Bands and Fancy Brigades—function mainly to stage their playful performances on New Year’s Day. But Mummers do perform at other events throughout the year, and for many Philadelphia-area families, Mummery is a tradition that spans generations."
i think the distance and that its an outdoors event may be a problem (the familia are puerto ricans so they arent used to the frio). one of the negatives of the aquarium is the distance, but it is indoors which is a plus. i dont know philly that much, when i was there most of it seemed really bad. thanks for the suggestion though.

haha even after reading the description im still not sure. i went to the web site and it said i couldnt get tickets. it may have been on the list of possibilities but being in philly was bad. if it was at the pnc, i would definitely go.
Here's another description. Mummers Parade - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Even if you don't go, it's still a cool thing to know about, it's roots are hundreds of years old. Back in the day (until the 70's) it was only men allowed in the parade, many of whom dressed as women!
