40 miles-the time depends on when I leave. If I leave anytime before 7:15 it takes an hour, after 7:15 is about an hour and 15. If there was a highway that completely bypassed downtown Princeton I could probably do it in 50 minutes
Thirty minutes on NJT from Jersey City Heights to Port Authority, then another 20 - 30 minutes via MTA ( depending how the trains are running)to Brooklyn.

My prior commute from South Brunswick to Princeton (near Princeton Airport) was about 12 miles and took about 20 minutes. Prior to that it was South Brunswick to Piscataway - 18 miles and took about 20 minutes.
