Far less understandable, for me, is why a Texas developer (and his wife) felt like smashing the record for a donation: $450,000 to Martinez' campaign.
At this point, we could end up with the best governor Texans could buy. Wonder why the other candidate isn't making much noise about this.
Beats me, too. I think it should be illegal for out-of-state or international persons to donate to any campaign. I'm sure they just want to be able to drive from Texas into New Mexico without a change in politics or scenery. And theyd probably like to be able to hunt from deer stands as well here. Oh well, I really wish they'd make some big noise about this.

Thats the stupidest thing I have ever heard on this forum.
This is AMERICA. We can do whatever we want thats is the beauty of it!
Sorry, you are too young to understand politics, kid.
My family as well made a huge donation to Susana, they are residing in Nevada, from Northern New mexico.

Who cares?
I'm more concerned about the $2-300,000 donated to Denish's campaign by AFSCME, SEIU and other unions. How can she fairly represent the people in the difficult negotiations that are sure to come?
Guess what? The Unions ARE the people.
Or do you prefer fat-cat GOP Texans, messing around in New Mexico politics?
Steve
The Unions--for the most part--are the ones that get us by the balls, and make exorbitant demands. Unions are what basically hamstrung the automakers.
They may have had a real place in the past to counter abuses and protect workers, but in current times, all the unions seem to do is bleed both employers AND the general public dry.
Sure.
You'd be working for 50 cents an hour, if it weren't for the Unions.
You wouldn't have any vacation or sick leave, if it weren't for the Unions.
Why do you think the GOP is trying so hard to break Union labor?
They'd like to turn the clock back 100 years, when there were NO Unions.
So instead of off-shoring American jobs to China, they'd get to keep 'em right here in the good 'ole USA.....right back at 50 cents an hour, just like the good old days.
Personally, I think Americans have bleed enough, thanks to the GOP, in Iraq and Afghanistan, don't you?

I quit a job because I was told that I HAD to join the NEA, in addition to the state Texas State Teachers Association. This was back in 197-something, and I told them to shove it....and I went into the business world and never looked back.
I didn't have a problem with the state, but when membership in the NEA became mandatory, I basically told them to **** off.
As for Iraq--a mistake from the beginning, and I was never happy with the invasion, as I saw it as nothing more than "Daddy's (Bush the elder) unfinished business."
We NEEDED to be in Afghanistan, and had we used all of the resources there--instead of invading Iraq, the outcome might have been very different.
But...as they say, hindsight is always 20-20.
