I'm a registered Democrat, but I would consider voting for a Republican candidate who supports civil liberties, does not support socializing the losses of Wall Street's crooks and high rollers, and holds foreign policy views close to Philip Giraldi's.
I went there to look at his successful legislation.
Of the 71 bills listed which Bingaman has sponsored or co-sponsored, TWO were enacted: a bill honoring Stuart Udall ... and a bill concerning the Constitution of the Virgin Islands.
Not too impressive to me. On the other hand, as one who believes in less government, I guess I would have to say I admire any senator who has so few successful bills in his record. He hasn't passed any enormous spending bills.

That's an excellent site; might point out that the 71+2 number is based on the current congress. Other congresses which Bingaman sponsored and successfully enacted bills:
2007-2008:
Consolidated Natural Resources Act of 2008
2005-2006:
United States-Mexico Transboundary Aquifer Assessment Act
Rio Arriba County Land Conveyance Act
Ojito Wilderness Act
2003-2004:
Manhattan Project National Historical Park Study Act
2001-2002:
Native American Breast & Cervical Cancer Treatment..Act of 2001
...Ports-to-Plains Corridor...
In the latest 2-year congressional session, only about 200 bills become enacted (it's usually about 450); considering so many bills originate in the house, a senator who authors and enacts 1 bill per congress is at or above par.
It is only fair to have one of each
Sometimes having two liberals supporting one state is not such a good idea.
That's not really a supporting statement. I could easily counter with "one Republican would be too many." Factoids and statistics are called for.
New Mexico benefits from federal spending; fortunately for NM, Republicans spend just as much as Democrats, despite what they say. Factoid: Reagan and Bush wracked up huge deficits. Clinton balanced the budget.
Why would it be nice? Give us some supporting statements about why you feel that way.
It would be nice because it would be more balanced, if that isn't already obvious enough.
