Roswell OKs Air Service to Dallas-Fort Worth

Associated Press
ROSWELL — The Roswell City Council has approved an air service agreement with American Eagle airline for flights from the eastern New Mexico city to Texas.
American Eagle will start flying jet aircraft between Roswell and the Dallas-Fort Worth airport on Sept. 5.
The airline will offer two flights on weekdays and one on Saturdays.
Roswell was last served by jet aircraft in the 1970s.
"It's been 30 years since we've had jet service to Roswell and, really, to southeast New Mexico," Roswell Mayor Sam LaGrone said. "This has been a long, hard journey for us."
Currently, the Roswell airport has nonstop flights to and from Albuquerque on Mesa Air propeller planes.

Roswell OKs Air Service to Dallas-Fort Worth

Thats big news for SE New Mexico. Roswell was last served in the 70's by the now dufunct Texas airlines which served Albuquerque, Roswell, and Santa Fe. This was back when Roswell was the second biggest city in NM, it was a thriving and bustling city until the base closed in 1967 where Roswell lost almost half its population. Back then the population was almost if not 50,000 like it is now 40 years later. Las Cruces was nothing back then unlike Santa Fe and Roswell and of course Albuquerque. Hopefully we can get the crime down with mayor Sam Lagrones new crime fighting plan and new crime reporting phone # 622-SAFE. ..and make Roswell a better place to live and visit...
