I am a jewelry artist, and I like to use local materials whenever possible. I am developing a new necklace, and am looking for a source for loose beads, that are actually made in New Mexico.

I have googled for days, and have only been able to find beads that are available in NM, but manufactured overseas.
They need to be natural material. Stone, bone, wood, glass, or ceramic. No plastic.
Anybody have a source they can share?

You might want to call Mama's Minerals. They have a lot of beads, as well as a lot of loose stones from NM. Not sure about beads from NM, but they can hopefully point in you the right direction.

Here is their website:
Rocks, Gems and Minerals from Mama's Minerals

The Bead Society of New Mexico is a New Mexico not-for-profit organization - The society was founded in 1984 and is dedicated to the study, discussion and exchange of information about beads and beadwork and to share our knowledge through educational programs, workshops and a newsletter. Its objective is to educate its members and the general public about the historic and artistic importance of beads and beadwork.

Maybe they can help...
