I have a NM license, M.A. & have taught in NM. I'm a little confused with this information.

In APS one would have to work 30 years & have a master's degree to be in the $50K range according to the 2007-08 pay scale:

A brand-new teacher in 2007-08 with M.A. would have make $30,000 in APS.

Theoretically, of course:

Just last night, I learned n the news that the new APS budget
will call for teacher layoffs of some 300-400 positions.

I also didn't know that the APS budget is well North of $1 billion.
I don't know if that's accurate or not, but it's in the neighborhood
of $2,000 per citizen of the district which would include Rio Rancho.

I guess that's why they can afford to buy all those new buildings
and keep the old ones because they "need" them.

Remember Monica Armenta - the TV reporter? She is the APS spoksperson
and gets a salary of $107k to be the 'face' of APS whenever a news station
wants to shove a microphone in the direction of the APS organization.
